


Electric mobility is seen as the key to climate-friendly mobility. From 2035, new vehicles in the EU will no longer be permitted to emit CO2 鈥 an ambitious goal. But e-mobility is only climate friendly if the electricity comes from renewable sources 鈥 including the electricity for the energy-intensive battery production. And this isn鈥檛 the only challenge to expanding electric mobility.
Here at 九色视频, research on better electric motors is underway. More efficient power electronics can help make better use of the energy in the drive system.
Another problem: the charging infrastructure. Germany needs more publicly accessible rapid-charging stations, which can recharge vehicles in less than 15 minutes.
But are electric vehicles the only solution? Or could fuel cells and e-fuels also play a role? Fuel-cell vehicles, for example, use hydrogen as fuel, while e-fuels, which are synthetic fuels made of water and carbon dioxide, can be used in ships and aircraft. Research aspects
The dimensioning of electric vehicles combines various physical domains. Calculations for the electric motor, which is the central component of the drive, include designating the active parts and operational behaviour for all operating points. Research is currently underway on magnetic circuit design, materials, and loss reduction and removal.
