In order to study at a German university, two requirements are particularly important: language skills and a school degree, which is recognized in Germany as a higher education entrance qualification.

Bachelor's degree programmes in Germany

Proof of language skills

The following applies to all bachelor's degree programmes and the state examination at LUH:

You must provide proof of sufficient German language skills. For international applicants, level B1 must be demonstrated when applying for all bachelor's degree programmes and level C1 must be demonstrated for enrolment.

Recognised school leaving certificate

The following applies to all bachelor's degree programmes and the state examination at LUH: Your school leaving certificate must be recognised in Germany as qualifying you for higher education. In most cases, the Abitur or an equivalent school leaving certificate from your home country is sufficient. If you have citizenship and a school leaving certificate from a non-EU country, you must submit a preliminary examination documentation (VPD) from uni-assist. This will check whether your qualification is sufficient for direct admission to LUH or whether further qualifications, such as an assessment test at the Studienkolleg, are required.

Don't have a German Abitur? You can find an overview of international school and educational qualifications on the Anabin information portal.

Master's degree programmes in Germany

Proof of language skills

The following applies to master's programmes at LUH:

Some require German language skills, others require German and English language skills. Some master's programmes only require English language skills for application.

Recognised bachelor's degree

The following applies to all master's programmes at LUH: You need a recognised bachelor's degree or an equivalent university degree. For most Master's programmes, a preliminary examination documentation (VPD) from uni-assist is required for your application if you have citizenship and a university degree from a non-EU country. This checks whether your bachelor's degree entitles you to enrol in a master's programme and converts your grades into the German grading system.
