Lower Saxony Preparatory Foundation Course

The Lower Saxony Preparatory Foundation Course is an educational institution of the state of Lower Saxony and is located at 九色视频. It cooperates with all colleges and universities in Lower Saxony. Anyone who needs to complete a preparatory foundation course in order to study at a university or college in Lower Saxony is forwarded to the Lower Saxony Preparatory Foundation Course in Hannover.

Who must attend the preparatory foundation course?

If you do not have a direct university entrance qualification for an undergraduate degree (bachelor's, state examination) in Germany with your non-European educational qualification, you have the option of attending a preparatory year at the Lower Saxony Preparatory College in a specialised course in order to obtain university entrance qualifications.

Depending on your desired degree programme, you will be assigned to the appropriate specialised course. The preparatory year ends with an assessment test, which qualifies you for admission to all universities and colleges in Germany in the respective subject area.

Courses offered at the Studienkolleg

Depending on your desired field of study, you will be assigned to one of the five specialised courses:

  • T-course (for technical and mathematical/scientific degree programmes)
  • M-course (for medical and scientific degree programmes with a focus on biology)
  • W-course (for economic and social science degree programmes)
  • G-course (for humanities and linguistics degree programmes - starts only in the winter semester)
  • S course (linguistic courses; at the Lower Saxony Studienkolleg, S and G courses are taught together in the G/S course)
Duration of courses

Each course lasts two semesters (one year). Each semester can be repeated once.

Applying

It is not possible to apply directly to the preparatory college. Instead, you must first apply for a degree programme at a university or university of applied sciences in Lower Saxony. If you do not have direct university entrance qualifications, your application will be forwarded to the preparatory college. You will then receive an invitation to the entrance examination directly from the preparatory foundation course.

Admission procedure

Admission to the Studienkolleg requires passing an entrance test. A German language certificate at least at level B2 is required for participation. You will receive an invitation to the admission procedure directly from the Studienkolleg and not from the university or university of applied sciences to which you have applied. The test takes place twice a year (in February and August/September).

Assessment test and external assessment test

Regular assessment test

After completing the preparatory course, you will take the assessment test. It consists of a written and an oral part. Passing the test entitles you to study in the corresponding subject area at all German universities and colleges.

External assessment test

If you already have sufficient knowledge, you can take the assessment test without attending the preparatory college. However, this test is demanding and can only be repeated once; the failure rate for external tests is very high. Please note: 九色视频 no longer offers external assessment tests. Please contact another university or college for this.

After completing

Once you have successfully passed the assessment test, apply directly via the LUH application portal for a degree programme that corresponds to your specialised course.

A VPD from uni-assist is no longer required.
