Each summer, the Maschsee Festival makes for a vibrant atmosphere along the shores of the big lake in Hannover鈥檚 downtown area. The festival includes live music, culinary delicacies and leisure activities. On 21 June of each year, Hannover celebrates its musical diversity with the F锚te de la Musique. Musical performances draw visitors to the entire downtown area. Hannover鈥檚 Sch眉tzenfest, a marksmen鈥檚 festival, is one of the biggest in the world. It combines parades, rides and music.
At the Small Party in the Big Garden event, performers from various countries put on a mixture of cabaret, theatre and music in the Herrenhausen Gardens. This is also where the International Fireworks Competition takes place: on several evenings over the year, pyrotechnicians from around their world present their spectacular shows. Hannover鈥檚 Octoberfest offers traditional music, culinary specialties and, of course, beer. And during the Advent period, numerous Christmas markets transform Hannover into a winter wonderland.
