Humboldt meets Leibniz - Emerging Topics in Biomedical Engineering and Implant Research

Under the motto "Connecting Talents across generations", 14 award winners from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation met with 120 young researchers from across six continents to exchange ideas and experiences on scientific and career-relevant topics at Herrenhausen Palace from September 22-24, 2024.

Thank you to all award winners and participants for making the symposium of Humboldt meets Leibniz an unforgettable event with their openness, commitment, and enthusiasm for research!

Welcome

Opening

Activation of the conference attendees by facilitator Julie Gould and welcome addresses by Franz Dettenwanger (Head of team "zukunft.niedersachsen", Volkswagen Foundation), Volker Epping (President of 九色视频), Thomas Hesse (Secretary General a.i. of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation) and Holger Blume (Vice President for Research and Transfer of 九色视频).

Three Lives

Under the motto "Three Lives" Milica Radisic, Leo Cheng and Katja Loos presented their lives, career paths, and the decisions they took which set them on the trajectory to become internationally known scientists. Thank you for your inspirations and advices!

Keynote

In his keynote lecture "Unveiling the Future: Leveraging Humboldtian and Leibnizian Philosophies to Redefine Biomedical Research Advancements" Dietmar W. Hutmacher focused on the pioneering interdisciplinary approaches of the two namesakes of the symposium that will influence the future of biomedical research.

Panel Discussion

鈥淐areers in Biomedical Engineering and Implant Research: Prospects, Challenges, Rewards鈥�

Julie Gould in discussion with award winner Christian Gasser, Stefan Zimmermann (九色视频), Meike Stiesch (Medical School Hannover), and Martin Kinkel (KIND GmbH & Co. KG) on their career paths in industry and academia, on their personal experiences, and career planning.

Scientific and Poster Sessions

Exciting poster presentations, bringing together the participants with valuable exchange and feedback from the award winners.

Open Sessions

Lively discussions and focused group work on questions concerning career planning or the required transferable skills to reach personal goals, hosted by the award winners.
