The International Office awards emergency grants (Notfall-Beihilfen) and degree completion grants (Studienabschlussbeihilfen) to international students from non-EU countries who are currently enrolled at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ.
Emergency grants (Notfall-Beihilfe)
International students who are temporarily in an acute financial emergency through no fault of their own can apply for emergency aid. Applicants must be enrolled at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ and not be on leave of absence. As a rule, this allowance can only be granted once during the period of study. Exceptions are possible in cases of hardship, but must be justified separately.
The amount of the emergency grant depends on the type of emergency and the available funds.
Personal counselling is recommended before applying for emergency grant. Please direct requests for counselling to: incoming-student@uni-hannover.de
Degree completion grants (Studienabschlussbeihilfe)
Degree completion grants (Studienabschlussbeihilfe) are intended to support international students at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ during their degree completion phase.
Personal counselling is recommended before applying for a degree completion grant. Please direct requests for counselling to: incoming-student@uni-hannover.de

How much is a grant?
The Awards Committee decides on the amount and duration of the grant for each applicant individually. This amount is based on the available funds, the number of applications and the applicants' level of need. The grant is paid in monthly instalments and only while the student is writing their thesis. The grant is not a full scholarship and can only cover part of your monthly expenses.
-
What are the application requirements?
The degree completion grant is only awarded to foreign students (non-EU, residence permit §16.1) of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ. Applicants must be demonstrably registered for the final examination or submit a subsequent registration for the final examination within one month of the application deadline. Only complete applications will be accepted. Please check whether you have submitted all the required documents.
