Walter Großmann Prize

The idea behind the prize is the presentation of geodetic problems in an easily understandable way. This idea was a significant focus of former Hannover university instructor Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dr.-Ing. e. h. Walter Großmann (1897–1980), which is why the prize is named after him. The prize is intended to recognise students of surveying who have made significant achievements in this respect.

Awarded to:
Graduates of the Geodesy and Geoinformatics degree programme with above-average grades on their master's thesis Applicants are also required to write a paper about their scientific findings in easy-to-understand language

Awarded annually since 2022 in the winter semester (previously every uneven year since 1981)

Award amount:
The first prize includes a financial award of up to 3,000 euros which is intended – in keeping with the prize guidelines – for a subject-related study trip or other scientific training offer. Other particularly impressive and publicly impactful presentations can also be awarded prizes of up to 500 euros.
