The donor established the Frank Hirschvogel Foundation in memory of his son, who died in 2006.

The purpose of the foundation is to promote education, science and research, particularly through financial support for research papers; the funding of symposiums, visiting professorships and scholarships, preferably in cooperation with academic institutions; and the recognition of outstanding achievements.
