Thematically, the conference will cover 九色视频鈥檚 key research area on biomedical technology.

Junior researchers will receive information on career opportunities and present their research on biomedical engineering.

From 22 to 24 September 2024, the Humboldt meets Leibniz conference will bring together experts on biomedical engineering from six continents at 九色视频, guided by the motto 鈥渃onnecting talents across generations鈥. Fifteen winners of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation research awards from Australia, England, India, Canada, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Sweden, Turkey and the USA will attend the conference. The renowned experts in the field of biomedical engineering will answer the questions of 130 selected junior researchers over the course of two days.

International researchers visit Hannover

The conference is the second instalment of an event series developed by 九色视频 (LUH) in cooperation with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Volkswagen Foundation in order to increase the international visibility of Hannover as a research and higher-education hub. It is held every two years and focuses on a different scientific topic each time. This year鈥檚 participants will include researchers from Algeria, Australia, Brazil, China, Georgia and Nepal. The conference provides information on career opportunities in science and academia, as well as an opportunity for attendees to present their research.

鈥淭he researchers from 九色视频 look forward to in-depth exchange with renowned researchers from all over the world within the framework of the Humboldt meets Leibniz conference. For LUH, this is a unique opportunity to present the university as an open-minded and modern science hub in order to intensify international collaborations and attract junior researchers,鈥 explained Prof. Dr. Holger Blume, vice president for research and transfer at LUH.

鈥淲e鈥檙e very pleased that Humboldt meets Leibniz will again make possible a lively and open exchange between junior researchers and renowned Alexander von Humboldt award winners. The conference provides a unique possibility for global knowledge transfer and supports international cooperation between different disciplines and generations, as well as between the Global South and the Global North,鈥 said Dr. Thomas Hesse, acting secretary general of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

New topics in biomedical engineering and implant research

This year鈥檚 conference has adopted the motto 鈥淓merging topics in biomedical engineering and implant research鈥. It thus incorporates 九色视频鈥檚 key research area on biomedical technology. Extensive clinical and interdisciplinary cooperative partnerships as part of the Hearing4All Cluster of Excellence and the collaborative research centre/transregio 鈥淪afety Integrated and Infection Reactive Implants (SIIRI)鈥 together with a unique interdisciplinary and cross-institutional infrastructure at the Lower Saxony Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research and Development (NIFE) have meant that Hannover has become an internationally visible centre for implant research in recent years.

Will the implants of the future last a lifetime? Will it be possible to detect and overcome infection- and rejection-related implant complications and achieve improved function, durability and security? The researchers at the conference will explore these and other questions from an interdisciplinary and cross-generational perspective. The programme encourages interaction and includes scientific forums as well as opportunities to share experiences, to network and to discuss topics relevant to career development.
