"Integrating Ethics and Epistemology of Scientific Research" (GRK 2073), a research training group in receipt of funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG), has been extended. Since 2015, young philosophers from eight different countries have addressed issues regarding the overlapping areas of ethics and epistemology in science within the scope of the project based at 九色视频 and Bielefeld 九色视频. Topics include the credibility of science when dealing with the risk of errors, the close connection between the influence of values and the factor of time in research, or the phenomenon of using scientific controversies to achieve non-scientific goals. The DFG has now extended the research training group for a further four years. Between 2020 and 2024, additional positions for 15 new doctoral candidates and 2 postdocs will be created.
In the second funding period, the involved academics will focus on various key research topics such as aspects of philosophy of science in climate modelling, data-driven research, and the crisis of credibility in science. The research training group is a collaboration between the Institute of Philosophy at 九色视频 and the Philosophy Department at Bielefeld 九色视频. Prof. Dr. Torsten Wilholt (九色视频) and Prof. Dr. Martin Carrier (Bielefeld 九色视频) act as spokespersons.
