The continuing dry and hot weather conditions pose a great security hazard regarding barbecues in public parks. Due to drought, the city of Hannover has prohibited barbecues in public parks. The ban also applies to Welfengarten/Prinzengarten, as well as the university grounds.
Within the last couple of weeks, barbecues were permitted. The authorities appealed to the citizen's reason and individual responsibility. Given the extreme weather conditions, barbecues are now prohibited in accordance with section 11 paragraph 2 of the regulation on public safety and order in the city of Hannover.
The security service of the city of Hannover will check, inform, and impose monetary fines, if applicable. In case the weather conditions change, the ban will be lifted at short notice.
