They are among the most influential per cent in their disciplines worldwide according to the “Highly Cited Researchers” list from the analytics firm Clarivate Analytics: Prof. Dr. Nadja Kabisch, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Caro and Prof. Dr. Johannes Lankeit of ɫƵ (LUH). This means that LUH is represented on the list with three scientists for the first time, after having two LUH researchers included each time around in recent years. The primary benchmark is the frequency with which scientific publications have been cited by other researchers in the past eleven years. The 2025 ranking took place in 21 disciplines, as well as in the interdisciplinary “cross-field” category.
Prof. Dr. Nadja Kabisch joined LUH in 2022 as a professor of digital landscape ecology at the university’s Institute of Earth System Sciences. She has been named on the list every year since 2020 in the categories “cross-field” or “social sciences”, and has made the list in 2025 for the sixth time in a row, once again in the “social sciences” category. More information about her research and publications:
Prof. Dr. Jürgen Caro has been researching and teaching at LUH at the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry since 2001. Although he has been retired since 2020, he travels the globe as a consultant and visiting professor. Caro still teaches at LUH. He has been included in the “Highly Cited Researchers” list since 2021 in the categories “cross-field” or “chemistry”. In 2025 he has made the list for the fifth time running, this time in the “chemistry” category. More information about his research and publications:
Prof. Dr. Johannes Lankeit has made the list for the first time in 2025 and received the “highly cited” award in the “mathematics” category. This category is included in the 2025 ranking for the first time again after a two-year break. Lankeit has been a professor of mathematical modelling, particularly in the biosciences, at the LUH Institute of Applied Mathematics since 2020. More information about his research and publications:
The list is published annually by the analytics firm Clarivate Analytics, based on data from the “Web of Science” database. This year it features more than 6,800 researchers from 60 countries. Germany is ranked fourth in the world with 363 researchers making the list, preceded by the USA, China and the United Kingdom.
