The Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) welcomes applications for the following position available from now on:  Student Assistant on the subject of "Grinding of cutting tools" (23 hours per month)

The position is limited to 3 months for project-related reasons. 

Your job at a glance 

Polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PcBN) is a highly wear-resistant material used for machining extremely hard materials. However, the grinding of PcBN is a demanding and complex process. In this role, you will investigate and optimise grinding processes to ensure the efficient and reliable machining of PcBN tools. Your focus will be on the conditioning of grinding tools and their influence on wear behaviour and component quality.

The area of responsibility includes support with:

• Planning and conducting grinding tests
• Data collection and documentation of test results
• Analysis of process and wear data

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a motivated student assistant to join our team with immediate effect.

Your profile:

• You have a good command of German
• Knowledge of machining is required
• You are naturally able to work independently and in a structured manner

A prerequisite for employment is valid enrolment at a German university in a degree programme relevant to the position (mechanical engineering, chemistry, materials science or similar subjects).
