The Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) welcomes applications for the following position available from now on:  Student Assistant on the subject of "Digital twin for process planning in additive manufacturing" (23 hours per month)

The position is limited to 3 months for project-related reasons. 

Your job at a glance 

In the SimProWAAM project, we are developing innovative approaches to simulation-based process planning for wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM). This involves creating a digital twin of the WAAM process and comparing it with the actual manufacturing process. A key task is the geometric representation of the material deposition: the calculated geometry of the weld bead must adapt in real time to varying process conditions (such as feed rate or current) to enable the planning of the next pass.

The area of responsibility includes support with:

• Research and analysis of the state of the art
• Implementation of algorithms for the digital twin
• Evaluation and validation of simulation results
• presentations and organisational tasks

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a motivated student assistant to join our team with immediate effect.

Your profile:

• You have a good command of German or English
• Interest in programming is desirable
• Independent and structured work is a matter of course to you

A prerequisite for employment is valid enrolment at a German university in a degree programme relevant to the position (mechanical engineering, chemistry, materials science or similar subjects).
