Set aside half a day to systematically reflect on your funding strategy and career development. External funding is a vital building block in academic careers – whether at different career stages, for application-oriented or fundamental research, or for building networks.

But successful acquisition requires more than an overview of funding opportunities: it calls for clear strategic thinking. Where do I stand now – and where do I want to go? How should I position myself? What resources do I need, and who can support me? How have others succeeded?

These are the questions we will address in an interactive workshop designed to support you in developing your own personal strategy.

The following topics will be covered:

• Explore and plan your personal path to successful grant acquisition as a key step in your academic career – with a focus on what needs to be in place beforehand.
• Reflect on your prerequisites and expectations, including a critical self-assessment of where you currently stand.
• Clarify your needs and discover available support systems that can help you move forward.
