Working in international teams – understanding and meeting challenges

International teams that work together face many challenges, such as various communication styles, different strategies for building trust and conflicting ideas about leadership. In order to remain effective and focused, especially in stressful times, it is important to clarify mutual expectations and agree on common goals.

This workshop highlights workflows and processes, introduces tools for successful project management, and develops strategies for trusting and value-based collaboration. It also illuminates implicit or tacit communication rules that are culturally conditioned. In addition to raising awareness of cultural differences, the workshop teaches strategies for developing shared core values and establishing a unique team culture.

You will receive brief inputs on the topics of communication, including information transfer, negotiation processes, feedback culture and trusting exchange. You will also have the opportunity to discuss topics that are relevant to you.

Case studies and analyses will deepen your understanding of everyday work situations. Practice-oriented training units followed by self-reflection and self-study components will show you ways of how to approach challenging situations.

The following topics will be covered:

  • challenges and success factors for good cooperation in international teams
  • culture and communication – workflows & processes
  • information transfer & feedback culture; tools for successful project management
  • dealing with misunderstanding and conflicts
  • using diversity as a skill pool
  • strategies for trusting & value-based cooperation

Note:

Two weeks before the workshop, participants will receive a handout and a short self-study unit (approx. 45 minutes) to prepare for the topic (this is an invitation, not a prerequisite for participation in the workshop).
